Where to find the taxi rank
The taxi rank is on floor 0, outside arrivals. Since 4 November 2025, taxis pick up on the right-hand side of the bay. Aena recommends taking a taxi only at the signposted rank.
Taxis are taken in order: you get the first free taxi and can’t choose. In high season up to 600 taxis an hour leave the airport, and the queue can still be long at peak times.
Official fares to Palma
Taxis are metered. Trips within Palma use the official reference fare for Mallorca:
- Flag fall: €2.50 on weekdays, €2.85 at night and on weekends and public holidays.
- Per kilometre: €1.20 on weekdays, €1.35 at night and on weekends and public holidays.
- Airport supplement: €4.65, charged once per trip.
- Waiting time: €19.40 an hour on weekdays, €21.40 at night and on holidays.
Palma’s published fare table includes a minimum fare from the airport of €16.95, covering the flag fall, the supplement and the first 7 km. A regional decree of February 2026 replaces it with a specific airport flag fall, but when we checked, the new amount had not yet been published.
From 1 June to 30 September, Palma, Calvià and several neighbouring towns share a joint taxi area, so trips such as the airport to Magaluf or Santa Ponça are charged at this same reference fare.
Fares to the rest of Mallorca
Trips from the airport to Alcúdia, Playa de Muro, Can Picafort, Pollença, Cala Millor and most of the island use the interurban fare set by the Balearic Government (updated in February 2026):
- Daytime: €3.31 flag fall and €1.16 per km.
- Night and holidays: €4.25 flag fall and €1.32 per km.
The price per kilometre already includes the taxi’s empty return, so a long trip to the north or east coast is entirely metered. There is no official fixed-price table from the airport to resorts.
Night, weekend and holiday rates
- Weekday rate: Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 21:00.
- Night rate: Monday to Friday, 21:00 to 07:00.
- Weekends and public holidays: the holiday rate applies all day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- Christmas and New Year: an extra €4.75 from 21:00 on 24 December to 21:00 on 25 December, and from 21:00 on 31 December to 21:00 on 1 January.
Supplements and what is free
- Luggage is free. The driver must accept normal suitcases that fit in the boot. Pushchairs, guide dogs and wheelchairs are also carried free.
- 5 or 6 passengers: +€3; 7 or 8 passengers: +€6. These apply only in larger vehicles: a standard taxi takes 4 passengers.
- Mountain destinations: +€8.52 to Sa Calobra, Cala Tuent and Cap de Formentor, and +€4.26 to places such as Banyalbufar, Estellencs or Deià (via Sóller).
- Taxi ordered by phone: +€1.15.
Paying and receipts
Every taxi in Mallorca must accept payment by card, and you choose whether to pay by card or cash. Taxis starting at the airport must accept cards, and drivers must carry change for up to €30. Ask for a receipt: the driver has to give you one showing the licence number, route, time and fare.
Every taxi must also carry complaint forms and hand them over on request, free of charge. In Palma, complaints go to the city’s Mobility department (+34 971 22 55 22), together with the receipt.
Groups, children and accessibility
- A standard taxi carries 4 passengers. Larger groups need a bigger vehicle, which may mean a longer wait, or two taxis.
- Official taxi rules don’t require taxis to carry child seats. If you travel with small children, bring your own seat or book a transfer with the right seats ready.
- Adapted taxis for wheelchair users can be ordered on +34 971 703 529.
Taxi or pre-booked transfer?
For a short trip to Palma, a taxi from the rank is usually simple. For longer trips, a transfer booked in advance has some advantages:
- Fixed price per vehicle, agreed before you fly, instead of the meter. For example, from €105 to Alcúdia, €105 to Can Picafort or €100 to Cala Millor, for 1–4 passengers.
- No queue: your driver waits at column 5 in the arrivals hall, follows your flight and waits up to an hour after landing.
- Minivans for up to 8 and minibuses for bigger groups, with child seats on request.
